A Conference for Employment Skill Building: Overcoming Challenges with Seizure Disorders in the Workplace

August 13, 2016 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

 Helen Young Room of the Southdale Library,

 7001 York Avenue South in Edina.

CAREER CONNECTIONS is a peer support conference for unemployed or underemployed individuals with epilepsy/seizure disorders who are in the job search.  CAREER CONNECTIONS is sponsored by the Epilepsy Advocacy and Employment Group (EPAEG).  The conference includes an Epilepsy Update by Dr. Rupert Exconde of the Noran Neurological Clinic in Minneapolis.

EPAEG is a social services agency which helps people with epilepsy and seizure disorders through a comprehensive employment assistance program which provides resume assistance, job seeking skills training, interviewing skills training, job leads and employment counseling.  The Epilepsy Advocacy and Employment Group also conducts support/counseling sessions for its clients which are designed to help them better deal with their situations relative to employment issues. All people who have seizures and are in the job search as well as VR and social workers are welcome to attend.

“Grief and Loss: Past Jobs, What We Can Learn”?
“Resume Development and Social Networking”
“Volunteering and Connecting: Hidden Opportunities”
“The ADA: Workplace Accommodations and Self-Disclosure”
“Interviewing and Dressing for Success”
“On the Job: Strategies for Memory Impairment”
