What is an Allied Health Professional, and how do they participate in my care?

The Noran Clinic believes that using a team approach provides high quality care to our patients.  The team is made up of the neurologist and an allied health professional.  Allied health professionals are board-certified nurse practitioners and physician assistants whom you may see at an office visit. They can assist in managing your neurological condition by performing neurological evaluations, explaining test results, prescribing medication and other treatments in collaboration with the neurologist. They can also provide teaching, counseling, and coordination of care regarding your diagnosis.  A team approach provides differing perspectives and can give important insight that can help enhance a person’s health and wellbeing. When health providers from a variety of disciplines work together and contribute their expertise, knowledge, and skills, the result is high quality management and continuity of care for our neurological patients.
